I really love today’s word (phrase) of the day.

Fare il vago means to play dumb, to pretend nothing happened, act confused, or to be aloof.
Fare = to make
Il vago =  the elusive, vague, or confused
Don’t forget to conjugate fare according to person and tense.

Examples:
1)  ’La mia coinquilina mi ha chiesto cos’è successo al suo latte. Ho fatto il vago perché in realtà, l’ho finito.’ – My roommate asked me what happened to her milk. I pretended that I had no idea, since I actually did finish it.

2) ‘Francesco ha fatto il vago quando la sua ragazza gli ha chiesto di chi era il capello biondo nel suo letto.’ -  Francesco played dumb when his girlfriend asked him about the strand of blond hair she found in his bed.

3) ‘Ho fatto il vago quando le mie amiche mi hanno chiesto se esco con un ragazzo di 23 anni.’ – I acted aloof when my friends asked me if I am seeing a 23 year old guy.
