Word of the Day: Sciupato

Will you ever use today’s Word of the Day? Maybe. Is it fun to say? Yes. Is the only reason I choose it based on the fact that it makes me think of Salt ‘N’ Pepa’s Shoop? Probably.

So as you can imagine, sciupato, the Italian adjective, is pronounced like shoopato. It means wasted, ruined, spoiled, or damaged. And don’t forget to adjust the adjective according to sex and number!

Example:
‘Devo tagliarmi i capelli, sono tutti sciupati.’ – I have to get a haircut, my hair is all damaged.

  1. Very important also: ”Mio figlio deve mangiare perchè è sciupato\” in the meaning of he doesn’t eat enough so he\’s underfed! :) Very popular from always worried Italian mothers about, especially, sons.
