Martedi in Arte [Updated]

Castle at sunset. Best enjoyed with beer in hand.

Next Tuesday, May 31st (update: and the last Tuesday of every month until the end of 2011), marks the latest edition of Martedi in Arte – the monthly offering when quite a few state museums are open late (and free!).  We highly recommend taking advantage of the extra hours at Castel Sant’Angelo, where you can enjoy a drink and one of the best sunsets in the city.  Other cultural institutions open include:  Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Museo Nazionale Romano (Palazzo Massimo alle Terme, Palazzo Altemps, Terme di Diocleziano, and Crypta Balbi), PantheonGalleria Nazionale d’Arte Antica in Palazzo BarberiniGalleria Nazionale d’Arte Antica in Palazzo CorsiniMuseo e Galleria Borghese, Museo Nazionale di Castel Sant’Angelo, Villa d’Este (Tivoli).

When: The last Tuesday of every month until the end of 2011 from 7pm-11pm
Where: Rome – see above for full list
How much: They’re all free!
Why: Art is cool.  But it’s even cooler at night and when you don’t have to pay to see it
